What to expect

We aim to reply to every message within a few days. Growing help requests are our priority. If you’re looking for hands-on support, let us know roughly where you are in Suffolk or the surrounding area and what space you have available, and we’ll come back to you with next steps.

Volunteer enquiries are always welcome. We have roles for people with all kinds of skills and availability, from occasional weekend help to more regular involvement in planning and building community infrastructure.

Frequently asked

Do I need any gardening experience to get help from Common Ground Suffolk?
None at all. Our volunteers are used to working with complete beginners. Starting from scratch is often easier than unlearning old habits. All you need is a space and a willingness to give it a go.
What area do you cover?
We are based in Suffolk and our volunteer network is growing. Get in touch and tell us where you are. If we can reach you now, we will let you know. If we cannot yet, we will keep your details and follow up as we expand.
I would like to volunteer. What does that involve?
Volunteers help with everything from visiting members’ spaces and planning what to grow, to helping build raised beds and water storage systems. Some people contribute a few hours a month; others are more deeply involved. Tell us what you are interested in and we will find something that fits.
I found an error in one of the guides.
Please drop us an email and let us know. The growing and wildlife guides are held to a high standard of accuracy and corrections from people with local knowledge are genuinely valuable.
